West of England Works in South Bristol

We are pleased to be able to tell you about a new service being provided by The Park Community Centre in Knowle. The Park is the South Bristol Centre for West of England Works which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and ESF and led by Weston College. It is designed to help people in communities experiencing high levels of deprivation who face complex and multiple barriers to accessing work. To be eligible for this service participants must live in South Bristol and be:

  • Age 16 upwards and have a National Insurance Number.
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK.
  • Not in any form of paid employment (including zero hours contracts).

They must also be facing at least one barrier to accessing education, training or employment which could include:

  • People with parental or caring responsibilities
  • Gender inequality
  • People with health issues
  • BAME communities
  • NEET young people
  • Over 50 with few or no qualifications

The service is free of charge and has no upper age limit. Everyone who participates will have a personalized support service to help move them towards or into employment.

The focus will be one to one support but the service also has the flexibility and freedom to deliver group sessions and activities. There is no time limit on how long we work with participants and they can be re-referred to the service if necessary.
