Our Bristol, Our World Conference for Young People

Bristol Mayor, Marvin Rees has described a new Youth Conference as “an amazing opportunity” for young people.

‘Our Bristol, Our World’ will give young people from disadvantaged communities the chance to tell city leaders about the issues that matter to them, and what they want the future of Bristol to look like.

The conference has been set up by youth empowerment organisation, Babbasa, and is based around the One City Plan. – a new document from the government which sets out a vision for Bristol by 2050.

The One City Plan will help to shape the future of our city and will impact on the lives of young people across it, so it’s vital that they have their say.

Community members, Bristol-based organisations, and industry experts are invited to listen to and discuss young peoples’ perspective.

The conference will take place on Tuesday, October 22, at City Hall and will be centred on four topics, which are as follows:

Our Needs, Our Aspirations – Education and employment opportunities for young people

Our Culture, Our Politics – Access to art, politics and issues facing young people as citizens of Bristol

Our Climate, Our Planet – The climate emergency in Bristol

Our Health, Our Wellbeing – The mental and physical health of young people in Bristol

Marvin Rees has confirmed his attendance at Our Bristol, Our World, and said: “I think it’s going to be an amazing opportunity to get involved in the Bristol One City Plan and to really make sure that young peoples’ voices and visions are heard and actually put down on paper for what Bristol will be in the coming decades.”

We look forward to confirming more panellists and guests in due course.

Young people are able to have their say in the points that will be made at the Youth Conference by joining one of Babbasa’s focus groups, which take place on September 11,12,18, and 19

Tickets for ‘Our Bristol, Our World’ are free and can be booked here.
