Ways2Work Update – Wednesday

I hope you’re all well. I’ve learnt from my previous attempts to write updates that it’s best to write them on the day.

I don’t think anything major happened last night, but this article on the BBC about how to make the most of your wifi strength may be of interest: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52027348

The BBC also have a quick 5-minute update to catch up with the latest developments and a highlight on difficulties people may be facing when they try to claim benefits.

Covid 19 Government Information

As always, Bristol City Council information on Covid 19 is here with Marvin Rees’s video update: https://www.bristol.gov.uk/crime-emergencies/coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-need-to-know

National guidance is here: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Support for Businesses

Organisations that are offering information, resources and support to different sectors include: Hospitality Action, The Arts Council, NCVO, The West of England Growth Hub, ACAS and Business West.

And Voscur has a lot of resources on their website (select ‘coronavirus’ from the dropdown): https://www.voscur.org/resources

They have also announced that all their services will be free until the end of April 2020.

Ways2Work Plea for Knowledge:

If you know of any more support and online resources that could be useful to organisations in Bristol and the West of England, please let us know and we’ll add them to the Ways2Work website next week.

For online resources, we had information on some in our newsletter this week, and have been contacted by SS Great Britain about theirs including factsheets about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, a STEM based online game and worksheets type activities linked to life on board the ship in the Victorian times: http://www.ssgreatbritain.org/brunel-institute/learning

Any requests?

We’re trying to be useful, so if there’s anything that you want to know more about then drop us an email at ways2work@bristol.gov.uk and we’ll do our best to find answers and share information.
