Bristol WORKS employer / organisation ask

Hayley from Bristol WORKS came to the Ways2Work network meeting yesterday. Here’s an update of what Bristol WORKS is doing. If you or your organisation can help them, please contact

As most of you are aware, the WORKS offer has turned from face to face delivery to a virtual and electronic resource for schools. We have worked with schools and provisions across the City as well as our WORKS employers to bring together an electronic offer to continue to inspire young people across Bristol and provide career insight and knowledge around the various pathways and Post 16 opportunities across Bristol. We are sharing resources to schools and provisions via a newsletter on a fortnightly basis and are adding new content every Friday including a mix of remote and video resources.

To ensure we have a wide range of representation of organisations, sectors we are calling for any support from organisations who may be able to share or develop resources remotely that we can share.Whilst our resources are aimed at Pre 18, we are finding these insights and resources accessible for people who may want to change profession or look to gain an understanding of the employment opportunities and pathways in different organisations:

Please see below our current asks:

1 – Can your organisation provide any practical resources or activities to share with schools?
This could include:

· Teaching resources or CPD for teachers

· Online activities such as curriculum or subject-related projects or workshops

·  Providing pupils with a problem-solving tasks related to your industry or company

· Using information readily available on your website, or in an existing presentation, to design a quiz or task that encourages students to engage with information and seek out answers

· Information to share with young people forming part of an employability toolkit e.g. interview or application advice, tips about how to communicate effectively with employers or advice about post-16 options

2 – Can you or your organisation deliver information via a webinar, film or vlog to provide insights into your organisation or sector?
This could include:

· Film version of any workshops you have previously delivered

·A five minute ‘This is how I got here’ film sharing your career journey, route into your organisation, what your organisation and your role entails, and any advice for young people at the start of their journey

·Q and A – either as an individual or as a group. This will be recorded virtually with questions sent in by young people and schools and collated by the WORKS Team.
