On-line training from The Training Exchange – Resilience skills and more

The Training Exchange team has been working hard during lockdown to develop capacity to deliver on-line training. Our on-line training offer is growing and developing week by week, as we respond to the unfolding situation – so we will continue to keep you updated.

Our courses may be suitable for you and your organisations, as well as your participants or customers. Seven Ways to Build Resilience, a 3 hour video-based online course is proving particularly useful to people in the current climate.

Please see attached and below details of our current on-line learning offer.

Resilience skills training

I have been working closely with Chris Johnstone, our Resilience skills trainer, to develop and deliver a range of easily digestible, bite size, on-line courses. We’re offering a range of options to suit times and budgets available, alongside learner’s preferred levels of interactivity and flexibility.

These have been proving particularly useful in these uncertain times for staff working at home or on furlough, for frontline/key-workers, volunteers, trainees and other communities. Please see attached flyer for the full range of options and costs.

Resilience skills courses teach strength-building interventions to protect your own wellbeing, alongside promoting self-help skills in others. Resilience training has been shown to reduce the risk of depression, anxiety and stress related harm. The courses provide self-help tools to develop growth mindsets, draw out strengths, recover from setbacks and build resilient responses to difficult situations.

Options include:

Seven Ways to Build Resilience, a 3 hour video-based online course Divided into short, easy to watch episodes, the course describes seven essential skills that help your resilience grow. £30+VAT per place.

Chris has been involved in teaching resilience skills for over thirty years, he has pioneered the role of resilience training in mental health promotion, the health service and the workplace. He has been delivering on-line training for the past 7 years.

A Local Authority Workplace Wellbeing Lead who recently purchased 100 places on Seven Ways to Build Resilience, commented, ‘Your work is incredibly valuable. This on-line course has been our most popular training support so far.’

Open programme courses

We will be offering an open programme on-line, where people can book individual places soon. In future this may run alongside our face-to-face programme in Bristol, as well as providing access to training in the interim.

The programme will include Mental Health First Aid training (comprised of 4 x 2 hour long webinars, delivered over a 2 week period, with an additional 7 hours of individual home study via an on-line learning hub). Participants receive handbooks and certificates from Mental Health First England. We’re delivering 2 programmes this summer, one beginning on the 13th August, and another from the 14th September 2020.

Going forward, we’ve decided to promote our face-to-face Courses in Bristol from the end of September onwards. Depending on restrictions in operation at that time, we’re planning smaller groups, in bigger venues, and the potential for blended learning options to reduce face-to-face time. Or if delivering face-to-face is impossible, then we will aim to deliver these as interactive on-line courses.
