Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) local links and customer fees- Social Care

NEPT has been working closely with the Disclosure & Barring Service (part of the Home Office) to raise visibility on their new team that is offering support to DWP Customers (Employers, Individual Members of the public) and Staff throughout England, Wales, the Channel Islands Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Please find attached documents for Employers and DWP Staff to use when talking to customers about careers in Adult Social Care. Those documents contain everything needed to provide customers and staff with information on applying for a DBS check.

Please note– in response to coronavirus (COVID-19), the Home Office and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) have put temporary arrangements in place, to provide standard and enhanced DBS checks and fast-track emergency checks of the adults’ and children’s Barred Lists, free-of-charge. This applies to healthcare and social care workers in England and Wales, being recruited in connection with the provision of care and treatment of coronavirus, or those being recruited to backfill roles because of the impact of the pandemic. Further information about this service can be found within the documents attached.

Disclosure & Barring Service have developed a short video which aims to show the process of a standard and enhanced DBS application in a more user-friendly way. The link to the video is here- https://www.gov.uk/government/news/dbs-disclosure-process-video. DWP staff can share the link to this video with customers who are applying for work and a DBS check is required.
