At BITC’s Waste to Wealth Summit in November 2018, their Founding Patron, HRH The Prince of Wales said that we are the first generation to know that we are undermining planetary life support systems and the last that can fix it. With school children striking from school to demand that we make sure the planet is liveable for their future, and unprecedented levels of public awareness about the consequences of human activities on the planet, now is the time to take action.

Bristol is well-known for its collaborative approach towards a more environmentally sustainable city, with bold aspirations and many inspiring activities already underway – from a roadmap to become a Circular Economy City, to recently declaring a climate emergency and setting an ambition to be carbon neutral by 2030.

At the Bristol Waste to Wealth Summit, BITC are bringing together BITC member companies with other like-minded organisations to explore how we can collaborate – bringing BITC’s national campaigns together with Bristol-based initiatives – to support Bristol’s environmental priorities and ambitions.

Through a series of talks and panel discussions, they’ll be looking at:

  • Turning Bristol’s everyday waste into wealth
  • Making the most of Bristol’s natural resources – waterways and green spaces
  • Circularity in the built environment – from offices to new homes
  • From awareness to action – engaging employees and young people in practical solutions.
