Today, we’ve published the latest data for deaths involving COVID-19 in England and Wales, and early estimates on employment figures in January 2021. The main points include:
- Early estimates indicate there were 730,000 fewer payrolled employees in January 2021 compared with the same time the previous year
- Compared with the previous month, the number of payrolled employees increased by 0.3% in January 2021 – equivalent to 83,000 people
- Data from our Labour Force Survey shows the unemployment rate continued to increase, while the employment rate continued to fall.
