Choices – Achieving your Best Life:

Support for young people and those in long term unemployment

Are you aged 19+ and struggling to find work?

We are running a series of 2 week courses between April and July 2021, for unemployed South Gloucestershire  residents, to support you with your search for work. The course will take place 10.30am – 2.30pm, Mon – Fri, and we will provide you with a mentor to help you explore your personal ambitions, gain confidence and introduce you to work opportunities. We will also allow you some social and networking time as a group.

Over the 2 weeks, you will learn some core skills, delivered as modules by different tutors in maths, IT, English, careers, financial literacy, plus soft skills eg resilience, confidence, communication, healthy eating for wellbeing, etc. Alongside this, you will focus on building up a portfolio of pathways into the careers you are interested in, to help you make an informed choice. You will be given access to career coaches and other services and you will receive certification at the end of the course to evidence your achievements, which you can show to prospective employers.

The course will initially take place at Kingswood Made Forever centre from Mon 26th April to Sat 8th May (no class bank holiday 3rd May.) The next course will take place at the Armadillo café in Yate from Mon 10th May – Friday 21st May.

If you or anyone else you know needs more personalised support with finding work, please contact Sam Jones for further information Tel: 07768 293842 or email: samantha.jones1@southglos.gov.uk.
