Universal Credit Claimant Commitment changes – July 2020

The Universal Credit guidance around the Claimant Commitment was updated on 1st July. You can see details on GOV.UK here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/universal-credit-and-your-claimant-commitment-quick-guide

If you open the updates at the bottom you’ll see the change is:1 July 2020. Removed the wording ‘You will not get a sanction if you cannot keep to your Claimant Commitment because of coronavirus (COVID-19)’.Please be aware that this may be a significant change for any clients you are working with who have started claiming Universal Credit since the start of the lockdown period.
